Your hair

Cutting and styling fine hair without creating a flat shape

Fine hair describes the thickness of individual hairs, not automatically how much hair you have. It can therefore respond differently to length, moisture and product. A useful haircut starts by looking at how your hair falls dry and which shape you want to make each day.

Keep shape where you need it

Show where you want volume or coverage. Too much length can let fine hair fall under its own weight; taking away too much can divide it into thin separate pieces. Discuss a shape instead of asking only for “more volume”.

A photo of your own hair without product helps the barber see which areas sit flat quickly and which direction your hair grows.

Use product sparingly

Start with a small amount and distribute it well first. A heavy layer can make fine hair collapse together sooner. Ask to see how a product is applied in your hair, so you do not use too much based on a generic recommendation.

A matte finish or volume powder may create a different visual effect from a glossy product, but choose mainly by how your hair feels and moves.

Keep the routine achievable

Explain whether you blow-dry, style with your hands or rush in the morning. The best cut is one that works with that real routine, not only after extensive salon styling.

If an area at the crown separates, show it. The solution is not always shorter or longer; growth direction and weight distribution matter too.
