Beards
Full beard: retain length with a shape that stays balanced
A full beard is not only about keeping as much length as possible. Hair direction, mass beneath the chin and the connection to your haircut together determine how the form feels from front and side.
Look at the side profile
Use a side view to discuss how much length can remain at the chin and underside. A full beard can be shaped forwards, downwards or closer to the jaw. Explain which silhouette you like.
When preserving length, identify where you still want less weight. This keeps “do not take too much off” from being understood as making no shape change.
Keep cheeks, moustache and neck in proportion
The cheek line, mouth area and neckline frame a full beard. Discuss which areas may remain naturally quiet and which edges you want more visibly tidied.
A longer beard does not require a heavy moustache or neck area. Make a separate choice for each visible section.
Think about how you wear it at home
Explain whether you comb, brush, arrange with product or mostly leave the beard loose. That helps choose a form that does not work only on leaving the chair.
At the final check, lift your chin and view the side profile. You will see the underside that a front mirror view misses.
